Sometimes Life Leads Us Exactly Where We Need to Be

Hello, friends.

Over the past few days, we have talked about saying yes to ourselves, caring for ourselves, and learning to listen to our hearts.

Today, I found myself thinking about how life has a way of taking us down paths we never imagined we would walk.

Sometimes we choose those paths. Sometimes they choose us.

Although we may not understand them at the time, looking back we often realize that even the most difficult seasons of our lives can gently lead us toward something we never knew we needed.

That was exactly what happened to me. Because truthfully...

I was not looking for Reiki. I was looking for hope.

A few years ago, I lost both of my sisters less than a year apart. That loss changed me in ways I could never have imagined. Although I had a beautiful family, healthy children, and every reason to keep moving forward, I quietly found myself living with grief and depression.

During one of the grief support sessions offered by the Canadian Cancer Society, my counsellor gently suggested that I try Reiki.

I had never heard of it before. To be honest, I did not have the energy to learn about it. I simply knew I was willing to try anything that might help me find a little hope again.

So, I made the decision to go.

At the time, I had no idea that saying yes to one Reiki session would quietly change the direction of my life.

Reiki did not make my grief disappear. It did not take away my depression overnight.

But something quietly began to change.

For the first time in a long time, I felt hope. It gave me permission to cry without feeling guilty. It gave me a quiet place where I did not have to pretend I was okay.

Most importantly, I began to understand that healing rarely happens all at once.

More often, it begins with one more breath... one more step... and then one more day.

People often ask me what Reiki actually is.

Simply put, Reiki is a gentle Japanese practice intended to support relaxation and well-being.

Everyone experiences a session differently.

Some people leave feeling deeply relaxed. Others simply appreciate having one quiet hour where nothing is expected of them.

Every experience is different.

For me, Reiki became one of those quiet moments where I allowed myself to cry, to rest, and to begin healing.

Almost two years after my first Reiki session, I made one of the most meaningful decisions of my life. I became a Reiki Master.

Not because I believed Reiki could solve every problem, but because I wanted to offer others something that had once meant so much to me: a quiet place to pause, breathe, and perhaps find a little hope.

Looking back today, I can see that life was quietly opening a new chapter I never imagined I would write.

Reiki was never the destination. Hope was.

Today, every time I welcome someone to Reiki Room, I quietly remember the hope that was once offered to me.

There is no pressure to be strong. No expectation to have everything figured out. Just a quiet space to breathe, to rest, and perhaps reconnect with ourselves, one gentle moment at a time.

Before We Meet Again Tomorrow...

If there is one thing life has taught me, it is that hope often arrives in the most unexpected ways.

Sometimes we do not need to know where the path will lead. We only need enough hope to take the next gentle step.

Thank you for walking this journey with me.

May today offer us a little more hope than yesterday.

With love,

Karem.
